 Background 
PZM-5 medium is an improved defined medium 3) developed from the previous PZM-4 medium (Yoshioka et al. 1, 2)) for porcine embryo culture. This is useful for the culture of in vitro-derived embryos and in vivo-derived embryoscollected after an artificial insemination. This medium is sterilized and effectively supports porcine embryo development under a low oxygen condition (5%O2/5%CO2/90%N2, 39‹C).
