Background

a1-antitrypsin(AAT) is one of the serine proteinase inhibitors that are present in human serum. In sera, AAT is present as native AAT, which inhibits serine proteinase and elastase-AAT complex and oxidized AAT(ox-AAT), which is oxidized by reactive oxygen species from activated neutrophils, resulting in a loss of activity.
It is considered that ox-AAT is a marker of oxidative stress and is related to pulmonary enphysema or COPD
The antibody (3F4) recognizes the ox-AAT, and S3-1 recognizes the native AAT.
These antibodies can be used for EIA, western blotting, immunohistochemical staining, and using this antibody, ox-AAT can be distinguished from native AAT.
