Background

Anti Human Salusin Polyclonal Antibody

Salusin-alpha/beta are multifunctional bioactive peptides that have been shown to exert potent hypotensive, bradycardic, and mitogenic effects (1-2). Two peptides are processed from a single prepropeptide (preprosalusin) that is a gene product of an alternatively spliced variant of the human TOR2A. Salusin-alpha is predicted to be amidated on its carboxyl-terminus (*1).
Salusin-alpha/beta are detected not only in human serum and urine but also various tissues and cells (1, 3-8). It was reported that serum salusin-alpha levels were decreased and correlated negatively with the atherosclerosis (7-9). In addition. in vitro hormone release studies showed that salusin-beta evoked both arginine vasopressin (AVP) and oxytocin release from the neurohypophysis in the rat hypothalamo-neurohypophyseal system (10-11).
