Like Preset VECELL®, 96-well gas permeable plates wells consists of a hybrid of a high porosity membrane and gas-permeable membrane. Oxygen can be supplied from the bottom of the wells providing a close to in vivo condition for the cell culture. The plates are appropriate for High Content Screening. Black and White color plates are available in the line-up individually and also in packs of 10.

Design the cells

Unlike stretched deformed cells on plastic plates, VECELL® provides 3D culture in stereoscopic 3D structures which closely reassemble an in vivo environment. Cells towards the center of spheroids in major 3D culture tend to die due to insufficient nutrition. On the other hand, cells can be held by VECELL® 3D structure scaffold in natural shape and do not form spheroids. During the culture, cell gaps are filled with ECM and form a 3D structure without changing cell shape. VECELL® enables long-time cell culture with an ample supply of nutrition.

The porous membrane consists of fibers with length 50-200 um and 2-10 µm width between them. The membrane thickness is 50-70 µm and 90% porous.

We accommodated our multiyear artificial blood vessel research technique to undergo specially-treated arrangement and have achieved to establish a cell culture enrichment reassembling an in vivo situation.

This membrane is hydrophilic, cell-adhesive and a low toxicity structure because amphiphatic polymers and collagen are coated uniformly on the fiber of the membrane.

On porous membranes, cells can growth retaining their original shape and can carry out gas exchange (CO2 and O2) at the bottom of the plate wells which due to these unique features. Therefore, cells can be cultured for long term.

 

Imaging the cells

HCA (High Content Analysis) and HCS (High Content Screening) can analyze the effects of compounds or target substances to a sample of cells quickly and with detail. Therefore, these methods are becoming important in drug development screening. The analysis should be carried out under the same situation as in vivo for cells to retain natural configuration. However, cells extend two-dimensionally in general plastic plates. On the other hand, cells which are cultured in oxygen permeable VECELL® plates are suitable for HCA and HCS with ample supply of oxygen from the bottom of the plate to allow a monodispersity state without aggregation. Therefore, VECELL® plates are perfect for HCA/HCS.

Mouse ES cells (C3Hfc-1) lengthened when cultured on gelatin-coat dishes and low-ALP activity differentiated cells were observed in the circled area of the images on the right.

However, when cultured on VECELL® porous membrane, the undifferentiated state of stem cells was retained.

he insert type is suitable for research and development, whereas the micro plate type is suitable for drug discovery screening.

Both types have porous membrane structures and oxygen supply from the bottom of the wells. With VECELL® plates, cell culture can be carried out under a close –to-in vivo situation.

Observation by invert microscope is also possible as the membrane will be transparent when wet in culture medium.

 

 

Protect the cells

All VECELL® films are manufactured in the clean room. It decreases risk of contamination and allows use for tender applications such as transportation of cells. Since organic solvents are not used for adhesive compounds, they are ecological and health-friendly products. Despite high functionality, we provide them at affordable prices.
