Protein Crystallization and Structural Analysis Custom Services utilizing Laser Irradiation

SOSHO Inc. is an Osaka University originated venture enterprise, founded in July 2005. By liaising with various research fields and utilizing innovative crystallization techniques, we offer custom services for candidate medicinal compounds, such as organic small molecules or nucleotides, peptides, antibodies, and proteins, for sample crystallization, X-ray diffraction measurement or crystal structure analysis.

SOSHO, together with CosmoBio, offers comprehensive drug discovery support services, including protein expression, purification, crystallization and crystal structure analysis as well as crystallization.

Please feel free to contact us regarding to crystallization

Features

  • Crystallization using our proprietary technologies, such as laser irradiation, agitate solution, and utilizing gels.
  • Higher efficiency of crystallization rate compared to conventional protein crystallization method.
  • No need to disclose your detailed sample information for custom service (If only performing crystallization, target information is not required).
  • Drug discovery support one-stop service, which covers expression/purification to crystallization/crystal structure analysis. Individual services, such as only crystallization or X-ray diffraction measurement is also accepted.

LIGHT: Laser Irradiated Growth Technique

LIGHT is a method to generate crystals by force to generate crystal nuclei in the low supersaturated solution, where it won't undergo crystallization. By irradiating a very short pulse width laser light, called a femtosecond laser, to the crystallization solution locally and instantaneously, a generation of crystal nuclei will be induced (see Fig. 1).

※H. Adachi et al., Jpn. J. Appl. Phys., 42, L798-L800(2003)

Because of that reason, the LIGHT can enhance crystallization of the samples that are difficult to crystallize by the traditional methods, and also contribute to the improvement of quality of the crystals.
