PAX-8はミュラー器官、腎臓、甲状腺の発生において発現が見られ、これらの成熟組織のいくつかの上皮細胞タイプで発現が継続する転写因子です¹。PAX-8は婦人科^2,5,7,10、腎臓^3-9、甲状腺由来^1,4,5,7の腫瘍のマーカーとして有用です。
PAX-8抗体(clone:MRQ-50)はPAX-8分子のN末端を標的としており、この部分はPAX-5やPAX-6といった他のPAXタンパクにも共通しています。選択したリンパ球・神経内分泌細胞の染色によってこれらのタンパクとの交差反応性が観察される場合があります⁷。
