背景

15-デオキシ-Δ^12,14-プロスタグランジンJ₂（15-deoxy-Δ^12,14-PGJ₂、5-d-PGJ₂) とは、PGD₂ が中間体である Δ¹²-PGJ₂ を介して脱水化され生成される生理活性物質です。

体液中の 5-d-PGJ₂ 濃度は通常 10^-12～10^-9 M ですが、感染や炎症などのストレス下では劇的に増加することが知られています。15-d-PGJ₂ は、ペルオキシソーム増殖因子活性化受容体（PPAR-γ）に γ アイソフォームが結合することで、細胞型や濃度に応じて炎症促進作用と抗炎症作用の両方の働きを示します。
