動員末梢血は、刺激薬剤を注射で投与したドナーの末梢血流からアフェレーシスを経由して回収します。刺激薬剤には造血幹細胞（HSCs）を骨髄から末梢血液循環に動員する働きがあります。

もっとも一般的な刺激薬剤は G-CSF（Neupogen®）と MOZOBIL® の二つです。G-CSFは骨髄を刺激する成長因子で、白血球と幹細胞の産生を促進し、それらを血液循環に動員します。MOZOBILは免疫賦活剤で、血液循環に幹細胞を放出する手助けをします。さらにこれらの刺激薬剤を組み合わせることで、末梢血液循環に放出される幹細胞数が増加し、幹細胞の動員効率が改善されます。
